About ЦЕФУРОКСИМ КОМБІ

ЦЕФУРОКСИМ КОМБІ is an antibacterial drug intended for the treatment of infectious diseases in adults and children, including newborns. Its use must comply with official guidelines for the use of antibiotics.

Composition

The active substance of the drug is cefuroxime in the form of a sodium salt. One vial contains 0.75 g or 1.5 g of cefuroxime.

Indications

The drug is used for community-acquired pneumonia and exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. It is also effective for complicated urinary tract infections (including pyelonephritis), as well as soft tissue and abdominal infections.

ЦЕФУРОКСИМ КОМБІ is used for the prevention of infectious complications after surgical interventions on the gastrointestinal tract, cardiovascular system, as well as after gynecological and orthopedic surgeries. When treating infections caused by anaerobic microorganisms, the drug should be combined with other antibacterial agents.

Pharmacological properties

The mechanism of action of the drug consists of inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins. This leads to the destruction and death of bacterial cells.

Resistance to cefuroxime may occur due to hydrolysis by beta-lactamases, reduced affinity for penicillin-binding proteins, impermeability of the outer membrane, or the action of efflux pump systems. Organisms resistant to other injectable cephalosporins are usually also insensitive to this drug.
