About CEFUROXIME-BHFZ

CEFUROXIME-BHFZ is an antibacterial drug of the second-generation cephalosporin group, intended for parenteral administration. It has a pronounced bactericidal effect and is effective against a wide spectrum of microorganisms, including strains resistant to ampicillin and amoxicillin.

Composition

The active substance of the drug is cefuroxime in the form of a sodium salt. One vial contains 250 mg, 750 mg, or 1.5 g of the active component.

Indications

The drug is used to treat infections caused by susceptible pathogens or until the infectious agent is identified. The list of indications includes infections of the respiratory tract, ENT organs, urinary tract, soft tissues, bones, and joints. The agent is also used in obstetrics and gynecology, and in the treatment of gonorrhea, septicemia, meningitis, and peritonitis.

In addition, CEFUROXIME-BHFZ is prescribed for the prevention of infectious complications during surgical interventions on the chest, abdominal cavity, and pelvis, as well as during orthopedic and cardiovascular surgeries. If necessary, it can be combined with metronidazole or aminoglycoside antibiotics.

Pharmacological properties

The mechanism of action of the drug consists of inhibiting the transpeptidase enzyme, which disrupts the synthesis of peptidoglycan in the bacterial cell wall. CEFUROXIME-BHFZ is resistant to the action of most β-lactamases. It is active against many gram-negative aerobes (in particular, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae) and gram-positive aerobes (in particular, Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis).
