About ФОСФОРАЛ

ФОСФОРАЛ is an antibacterial drug containing the active ingredient fosfomycin trometamol. The drug belongs to the group of fosfonic acid derivatives and has a pronounced bactericidal effect.

Composition

The main component of the drug is fosfomycin trometamol. In one package, it contains 5.631 g of this substance, equivalent to 3 g of pure fosfomycin.

In addition to the active ingredients, the composition includes auxiliary ingredients: sucrose, saccharin, and also flavorings (orange and mandarin).

Indications

The drug is prescribed for the treatment of acute uncomplicated infections of the lower respiratory tract caused by microorganisms sensitive to fosfomycin. The application is indicated for adult women, men, and girls aged 12 years and older.

Also, ФОСФОРАЛ is used for the prevention of infections in adult patients before surgical interventions or diagnostic procedures.

Pharmacological Properties

The mechanism of action of fosfomycin involves inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell wall. The drug blocks the enolpyruvyl transferase enzyme, which prevents the formation of peptidoglycan - an important stage in the life cycle of bacteria.

Due to its structural similarity to phosphoenolpyruvate, fosfomycin irreversibly blocks the synthesis of the cell wall. Additionally, the drug may reduce the ability of bacteria to adhere to the epithelium of the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract.
