About LIVAGIN-M
LIVAGIN-M contains ketoconazole 400 mg per pessary. Excipients: butylhydroxyanisole, macrogol 1500 and macrogol 400.
Indications
Acute and chronic recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis; prophylaxis of vaginal fungal infection when resistance is reduced or when treatment disturbs normal vaginal flora.
Pharmacological properties
Ketoconazole is a synthetic imidazoldioxolane derivative with fungicidal and fungistatic activity against dermatophytes, yeasts and some Gram-positive cocci. It inhibits ergosterol synthesis, altering fungal membrane lipid composition and causing lysis. Less than 1% is absorbed systemically after intravaginal use; peak plasma levels are 0–10.7 ng/ml, without systemic effect.
