About ЦЕФТАЗИДИМ ЮРІЯ-ФАРМ

ЦЕФТАЗИДИМ ЮРІЯ-ФАРМ is an antibacterial drug belonging to the cephalosporin group. Its action is aimed at combating bacterial infections by inhibiting the synthesis of the microorganism cell wall, which leads to their death.

Composition

The active substance of the drug is ceftazidime (in the form of pentahydrate). One vial contains 1000 mg of ceftazidime. Anhydrous sodium carbonate acts as an auxiliary component.

Indications

The drug is used for the treatment of adults and children, including newborns, for the following conditions: hospital-acquired pneumonia, bacterial meningitis, complicated urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and intra-abdominal infections. The agent is also effective for respiratory tract infections in patients with cystic fibrosis, chronic and malignant otitis externa, bone and joint infections, as well as peritonitis associated with dialysis.

ЦЕФТАЗИДИМ ЮРІЯ-ФАРМ is prescribed for bacteremia that has occurred against the background of the aforementioned infections, and for the treatment of patients with neutropenia and fever of bacterial origin. In addition, the drug is used for the prophylaxis of urinary tract infections during prostate surgery. When choosing therapy, the antibacterial spectrum of the drug, which mainly covers Gram-negative aerobes, should be taken into account.

Pharmacological properties

The mechanism of action consists of interacting with penicillin-binding proteins, which disrupts peptidoglycan biosynthesis and causes lysis of bacterial cells. The effectiveness of the drug depends on the time during which the concentration of the active substance exceeds the minimum inhibitory concentration for specific pathogens.

Bacterial resistance to ceftazidime can develop through hydrolysis by beta-lactamases. In particular, the drug can be effectively hydrolyzed by extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) and AmpC enzymes.
