СОЛУМ ОЙЛ is an injectable medicinal product based on methylprednisolone in the form of methylprednisolone sodium succinate. The drug is intended for intramuscular and intravenous administration.

Composition

Active substance: methylprednisolone. One vial contains 40 mg, 125 mg, 500 mg, or 1000 mg of methylprednisolone as methylprednisolone sodium succinate.

Excipients: sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate; anhydrous disodium hydrogen phosphate. For the 40 mg dosage, sucrose is additionally included. The solvent for the 40 mg and 125 mg dosages is water for injections, and for 500 mg and 1000 mg, benzyl alcohol and water for injections.

Indications

Glucocorticoids are used primarily for symptomatic treatment, with the exception of certain endocrine disorders where they are used as replacement therapy. СОЛУМ ОЙЛ is prescribed as adjunctive short-term treatment for rheumatic diseases, including post-traumatic osteoarthritis, synovitis in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, epicondylitis, tenosynovitis, gouty and psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis.

The drug is also used during exacerbations or as maintenance therapy in certain cases of systemic lupus erythematosus and lupus nephritis, acute rheumatic carditis, systemic dermatomyositis, polyarteritis nodosa, and Goodpasture's syndrome.

Indications include dermatological diseases such as pemphigus, severe erythema multiforme, exfoliative dermatitis, bullous dermatitis herpetiformis, severe seborrheic dermatitis, severe psoriasis, mycosis fungoides, and urticaria. The drug is also used to control severe or incapacitating allergic conditions that are unresponsive to adequate conventional treatment.

Pharmacological Properties

Methylprednisolone is a synthetic glucocorticosteroid with pronounced anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and antiallergic effects. The injectable form is suitable for conditions where rapid and effective action of the drug is required.

Glucocorticoids penetrate the cell membrane via diffusion and bind to specific receptors in the cytoplasm. The resulting complex enters the cell nucleus, interacts with DNA, and stimulates mRNA transcription and subsequent synthesis of proteins that mediate the numerous effects of glucocorticoids following systemic administration.
