About ФІНАГЕН

ФІНАГЕН — this is a medicinal product containing finasteride as the active ingredient. The drug belongs to the group of 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors and is used for the treatment of conditions related to the enlargement of the prostate.

Composition

Each tablet contains 5 mg of finasteride. The inactive ingredients include lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium carboxymethyl starch (type A), pregelatinized starch, sodium doxylate, magnesium stearate. The tablet coating consists of components of Opadry 20A50535 blue (hydroxypropyl cellulose, hypromellose, titanium dioxide, talc, indigocarmin aluminum lacquer, iron oxide yellow).

Indications

The drug is prescribed for the treatment and control of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in patients with enlarged prostate. The use of ФІНАГЕН helps reduce the size of the gland, improve urine flow, and alleviate symptoms of BPH.

Also, the agent helps reduce the risk of acute urinary retention. Additionally, it decreases the likelihood of the need for surgical intervention, such as prostatectomy or transurethral resection of the prostate.

Pharmacological Properties

Finasteride is a specific inhibitor of 5-alpha-reductase type II. This enzyme is responsible for converting testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which stimulates prostate tissue growth in BPH. The drug effectively reduces the level of DHT both in the blood and directly in the tissues of the prostate gland, without interacting with androgen receptors.

Clinical studies have shown that taking finasteride for four years significantly reduces the frequency of cases of acute urinary retention and the need for surgical treatment in patients with moderate and severe symptoms of the disease.
