About CEFUROXIME-DARNITSA

CEFUROXIME-DARNITSA is an antibacterial medicinal product used for the treatment of infectious diseases in adults and children, including newborns. The drug is effective against many bacterial infections and is used for the prevention of complications following surgical interventions.

Composition

The active substance of the drug is cefuroxime in the form of cefuroxime sodium. One vial of the medicinal product contains 0.75 g or 1.5 g of the active component.

Indications

The drug is prescribed for community-acquired pneumonia and exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. It is also indicated for complicated urinary tract infections, including pyelonephritis, as well as soft tissue and abdominal infections. Furthermore, the agent is used for the prevention of infectious complications following surgeries on the gastrointestinal tract, cardiovascular system, as well as after gynecological and orthopedic interventions. When treating infections caused by anaerobic microorganisms, cefuroxime is used in combination with other antibiotics.

Pharmacological properties

The mechanism of action of the drug consists of inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins. This leads to the destruction and death of microorganisms. Bacterial resistance to cefuroxime may occur due to the action of enzymes (beta-lactamases), reduced affinity of proteins for the drug, impermeability of the outer membrane, or the activity of efflux pump systems.
