About TIZALUD

TIZALUD contains the active substance tizanidine, which belongs to the group of centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxants. This means the medicine acts on the spinal cord to reduce muscle tone. TIZALUD is an effective treatment for various conditions associated with excessive muscle tone.

Composition

TIZALUD consists of tizanidine at a dose of 4 mg and excipients such as microcrystalline cellulose, anhydrous lactose, anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide, and stearic acid.

Indications

TIZALUD is indicated for the treatment of painful muscle spasms, spasticity due to multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, and brain injury. The medicine helps reduce resistance to passive movements, suppresses spasms and clonic seizures, and improves the strength of active muscle contractions.

Pharmacological properties

Tizanidine acts by stimulating presynaptic α2-adrenergic receptors in the spinal cord, which leads to the inhibition of the release of amino acids that stimulate N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors (NMDA receptors). This results in a decrease in polysynaptic signal transmission and a reduction in muscle tone. TIZALUD is rapidly absorbed and reaches maximum plasma concentration approximately 1 hour after administration.
