About LEVEL
Level contains ribavirin and is used to treat chronic hepatitis C.
Composition
Each capsule contains 200 mg of ribavirin. Excipients include lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, sodium croscarmellose, microcrystalline cellulose and a gelatin capsule with titanium dioxide and colourants.
Indications
Chronic hepatitis C in adults from 18 years with compensated liver disease who are treatment-naïve or previously non-responders; also in adults, adolescents and children from 3 years in combination with peginterferon alfa-2b or interferon alfa-2b.
Pharmacological properties
Ribavirin is a synthetic nucleoside analogue active against certain RNA and DNA viruses. The mechanism with peginterferon or interferon alfa-2b against hepatitis C virus is not fully known; combination therapy improves response versus interferon alone in clinical trials.
